By train
Taita station is on the Hutt Valley Line and it is about four minutes walk from the door. The trip from Wellington Station takes about 30 minutes, and the same line runs through Petone, Waterloo and Naenae, so it is one ride from the city and from most of the valley. Trains run about every half hour through the day and about every hour in the evening. Check Metlink for routes and times, and check the last train before you settle in for the evening.
By bus
Metlink buses on the valley routes connect at Taita Station, a short walk from the door. Plan your trip on the Metlink journey planner before you leave, and check the last bus if you are staying for the evening.
Driving and parking
Parking is available at the venue, limited spaces. The train is the easy way in, and Taita station is a short flat walk from the door. Taine Street and the streets around it are residential, so if you do park on the street, park considerately and leave driveways clear.
Cycling
The Hutt River Trail runs close by and the ride from Lower Hutt is flat the whole way. Bike parking at the centre is being confirmed and we will post the detail here before the festival. If you want to take a bike on the train, check Metlink's current bikes on trains rules before you travel.
Accessibility
The whole festival is on one flat floor, with step free routes throughout, accessible toilets and an accessible viewing area. The accessible drop off is at the main entrance on Taine Street. If you need a hand with anything on the day, any crew member or the info point will sort you out. Certified assistance dogs are always welcome by law; other pets stay home.
When to come
Doors open at 10am each day and your ticket QR scans once at the gate, so arrive any time that suits. Come for lunch, taste your way around the signature pies, then stay on until close at 10:30pm. Drinks and the evening programme are being arranged now and are not confirmed yet. Kids under 5 come free with their own ticket.
Getting home
Evening trains are about an hour apart, so check the last one before you settle in. If you drove, the car park empties slowly at close, so give yourself a few minutes. Taine Street is a residential street, so please head off quietly.
