Getting to NZ Pie Fest at Frank Kitts Park

NZ Pie Fest runs Friday 15 to Sunday 17 January 2027, 10am to 10:30pm each day, at Frank Kitts Park, Jervois Quay, Wellington 6011, right on the waterfront. The main entrance is at the promenade steps on the waterfront side of the park. Here is every way to get there, plus parking and accessibility.

Walking from the city

Frank Kitts Park sits on the waterfront between the central city and the harbour, a short, flat walk from the CBD. From Lambton Quay or Willis Street, head towards the water and follow the waterfront promenade to the promenade steps at the main entrance. It is the easiest way in, and the prettiest.

By train

Wellington railway station is about a 15 minute flat walk from the park. Leave the station towards the harbour and follow the waterfront south along the quays. Regional trains from the Hutt Valley, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast all arrive at the same interchange, so the train plus a waterfront stroll is the simplest route from outside the city. By bus

Metlink buses stop along Lambton Quay, Willis Street and Courtenay Place, each a few minutes on foot from the park. Plan your trip on the Metlink journey planner before you leave, especially for the ride home after an evening of live music.

By harbour ferry

The harbour ferry between Days Bay and the city docks at Queens Wharf, right next door to Frank Kitts Park. If you are coming from Eastbourne or Days Bay, it is easily the most scenic way to arrive at a pie festival.

Driving and parking

There is paid parking near the park and in the central city parking buildings, but spaces fill fast on busy summer weekends. If you can, walk, bus or train in and skip the hunt for a spot. The park fronts Jervois Quay, so that is the natural side for a drop off; the main entrance is at the promenade steps on the waterfront side.

Accessibility

The festival is on the flat lawns of Frank Kitts Park with step free routes, accessible toilets and an accessible viewing area. If you need a hand with anything on the day, any crew member or the info point will sort you out. Certified assistance dogs are always welcome by law; other pets stay home.

When to come

Gates open at 10am each day and your ticket QR scans once at the gate, so arrive any time that suits. Come for lunch and taste your way around the signature pies, then stay on: a licensed bar pours local beer, wine and soft drinks, and live music and DJs play into the evening until close at 10:30pm. Kids under 5 come free with their own ticket.
