We moved because the Walter Nash Centre makes a better festival. NZ Pie Fest is now at the Walter Nash Centre, 22 Taine Street, Taita, Lower Hutt, on Friday 29 to Sunday 31 January 2027, 10am to 10:30pm each day. It was going to be at an open air site in central Wellington on an earlier January weekend. The Walter Nash Centre gives the stalls room to breathe, and Taita station on the Hutt Valley Line is four minutes walk from the door. Parking is available at the venue, limited spaces. Most of all it takes the weather out of the weekend, the one thing nobody can plan around. Lower Hutt is about half an hour from Wellington Station by train. If you already hold a ticket and the new weekend does not work for you, email office@nzpiefest.co.nz and we will refund you in full. Everything else is unchanged: one signature pie from every bakery at $7.50, and every person through the gate gets a vote. Full line up revealed 10 November.

Entry for the day and a vote for the People's Pie. Tickets bought by 10 November 2026 also carry one courtesy drink for each day of entry, which sits on your ticket QR, nothing extra to carry. A non alcoholic drink is always available; alcoholic options are for guests 18 and over with photo ID. At the stalls you buy pies with tokens, one token gets you one bakery's signature pie, so you can taste as many as you like.

Card payments finish on Stripe's secure payment page, then you land straight back on your tickets. Each ticket has its own QR code, shown on screen right away and emailed to you as soon as you pay. One QR does everything: it scans once at the gate, and any pie tokens, specials and any courtesy drink are loaded onto that same QR, ready to spend at the stalls.

Tokens are the pies: $7.50 each, one token gets you one bakery's signature pie at any stall. Buy them with your ticket at checkout and they load straight onto your ticket QR, there is no separate token QR to mind. At the stall the bakery scans your ticket and takes the tokens off it. Absolutely, it's built to be a relaxed summer weekend out. Children under 5 enter free, they just need their own free ticket so we can count everyone safely. Everyone 5 and over needs a paid ticket. Kids don't need their own tokens, share yours at the stall.

Early bird entry is $19.90 online until 10 November 2026, then $25 online, or $27 at the gate. The 3 Day Pass is $59.70 early bird, $70 after 10 November, and is online only. Pies are bought with tokens that live on your ticket QR and are redeemed at the bakery stalls. Top up with a card in seconds at nzpiefest.co.nz/my; cash is accepted only at the festival office on site, which loads tokens onto the same QR.

We do not refund for a change of mind, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else at no charge. Your rights under New Zealand consumer law always apply. Full details in the festival policies at nzpiefest.co.nz/policies.

The festival runs rain or shine at the Walter Nash Centre, so the weather does not change the day.

Please leave pets at home. The site is packed with food stalls, hot ovens and big crowds, so for food safety and everyone's comfort no pets are allowed. Certified assistance dogs are always welcome by law, and our crew will help you find the best route around the site.

Yes. The whole festival is on one flat floor, with step free routes throughout, accessible toilets and an accessible viewing area. If you need a hand with anything on the day, any crew member or the info point will sort you out.

Parking is available at the venue, limited spaces. The easy way in is the train to Taita station on the Hutt Valley Line, four minutes walk from the door.

One token is one signature pie at $7.50, so buy one token for each pie you plan to try. You can buy up to 50 tokens in an order, and you can top up with a card in seconds at nzpiefest.co.nz/my before or during the festival, so there is no need to guess up front. Unused tokens are not refunded after the event, unless we cancel or we change the dates or the venue, so buy as you go.

Dietary detail for each signature pie is published with the line up on 10 November, so you can plan before you come. On the day the crew at each stall can tell you exactly what is in their own pie.

Yes. You can buy up to 20 of each ticket type in one order. Every QR code arrives in the one confirmation email, so you can forward each person their own, and each person scans their own QR at the gate. Tokens can be moved between the tickets in your group at nzpiefest.co.nz/my.

Go to nzpiefest.co.nz/my and use the Email me a link button, and your tickets are sent again to the email address on the order. Check your spam folder first. Tickets can be re-sent from your order at any time, so a lost email is never a lost ticket.

Your ticket QR scans once to get you in, so plan a day as one visit. A 3 Day Pass works the same way, one entry on each of the three days. If you think you will need to step out, ask the crew at the gate before you go, not after.
